Warning: Don't eat Marlin Burritos in Mexico

So its been a while, well I went to Puerto Vallarta Mexico for a week and had some good times, got some sun and ate some really good taco's. The grandparents took the whole family to a all inclusive resort for a week, there was like 23 of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. For me the trip was wicked but there was 2 highlights; first off was this thing called the outdoor challenge. I got together with 6 of my relatives who don't ever have any outdoor adventures and we jump in a boat for 20min and go across the bay then 4x4 up the mt in a uni mog for like 20-30min. Then a 20min mule ride up the mt. Then started the real fun, we did 7 zip lines in the jungle and then we did 3 repels down water falls. Then we took the uni mog and the boat back. It was so fun everyone was so excited and wiped out. So we needed a couple days to recover then I got together with my old man and some of my uncles and we rented scooters and cruised the Mexican slums. Well these scooters were so hurting, all dinged up and running like crap. So I hop on my scooter and go around the corner and there is this curb thing and I go and get air off it then I land on this slick coble street and fully crash, it was sweet I was only on it for like 30sec and I was all ready laying on the ground, good thing these things looked like crap because it was on my visa and you couldn't even tell it was crashed. The first thing my dad says after I go down is “what an idiot” Then we rode for 20min or so and one of my uncles went down to. “Jimmy's down”. It was like 30c everyday, and on the last day I went and got a Marlin Burrito from this very sketchy Mexican place, I should know better but it might have been the best Burrito ever. Things have not been all that solid since I got home, if you know what I mean. I guess thats the price you pay for a eating a good burrito. I must be an idiot. Here are some photos.

Snow Man!

Ok the last week has been just nuts. Tons of snow. No bike riding. So it pissed snow on last Sunday and Monday there was no way I was riding my bike outdoors so I instead of looking at the wall and riding the rollers I strapped skis and snow shoes to my back and started hitch hiking up Chilliwack lake road some dude dropped me off up valley and I put the snowshoes on and went up the old logging road with knee-waist deep powder for 2.5hrs and then I skied down. Then I went again with Toby on Wednesday and did the same thing all over again, then I got this sweet overuse injury due to the snowshoeing. And I chilled hard on Friday. Then today I hit the gym and this is the note that was on the counter, then I went out and checked out the garage. And I got some new runners as well, my old ones lasted me for 6years so it was high time

You cant have your cake and eat it too.

The last week has been one mad adventure. First off Sunday we all went over to the Beers to celebrate Kurts 30th birthday and eat 6kg of pirogies. It was also Toby's birthday a couple days before and I got him the best gift ever, “a new one” from the teapot. Then on Monday I was running down the rotary trail and there was this girl running towards me and I was thinking man she is really moving then as she got closer I was like hey it Nikki, so I went in her lane and was all flexing and acting like a moron then as she got closer she went on the other side of the trail and passed right by, well it was not Nikki, and I felt so cool. Wednesday I was showing all the juice monkeys at the gym how it was done and then the power went out and we all had to go home. Kurts Mom baked a cake for his birthday and stuck it in the mail, and yesterday we got the cake and it was so good. Then after eating the cake we went for a mountain bike ride and ¾ way down Kurt had this wicked crash and had to walk out. When we got home Nikki(the real one) drove him to the hospital in Bellingham to get checked out. Kurt dose not have his care card yet so hence the Bellingham trip. And turns out Kurt broke (cracked) his collar bone. Doctor says he will have to just take it easy for 3-4weeks but I think if he drinks lots of chocolate milk 2-3 weeks.

Teapot Challenge

Well its done, the trash talking has came to an end and the first ever teapot challenge is now done. So results are:
1st Ricky
2nd Toby
3rd Jon
4th Kurt
5th Derek
Thats it we only had 5 people who did the whole thing, next year there will be more. I will give you my view of the race, but you can get Jon's view on his blog www.fastandclean.blogspot.com
Toby is the best mt biker out of all the kayaker's and he can paddle too. I on the other hand can destroy him on the bike and run, but my paddle is hurting so it might be very close. So we started out a the Holroyd Mansion on Cultus lake on our Mt bikes then we raced up Vedder and down one of my favorite trails called Dilemma. I dropped Toby right away then I came to the lake 11 min up. I had a good transition and paddled best I could, turns out Toby only went 1or2 min faster on the first paddle leg. So I was still like 9or10 min up at the bottom of the run. Then I ripped up teapot, and then half way down I ran into Toby going up and I had a massive gap and the 3or4 cups of coffee I drank in the morning was making me pee so bad, so I went in the woods. I got to work on the coffee pacing, its tough. Then at the start of the last paddle I had like 13 min on Toby. Now the wind had really picked up and it was like white water on Cultus, I got like 100m out and I thought I was going to die, I almost got flipped over multiple times and and with the wind and my lack of paddling knowledge I got spun 180 three times. Good thing I had a 13min buffer. I touched the dock 6or7min up on Toby. Oh man, a good time was had by all and the stories will last a year till the next teapot challenge. Jon, kurt and Derek had a good battle but Jon can tell that one. And today on a very wet Sunday afternoon I am just chilling trying to figure out what the top 10 tunes of all time are. Stairway to heaven, good bye Earl, thunderstruck, heart of gold, and I am trying to pick a tom petty song right now but this is hard work. Any suggestions? Later

Best Day Ever!

-Woke up at 8 after a wicked good sleep
-Had unreal oatmeal I don't know what it was but it was perfect peanut butter/honey mix
-Had 3cups of coffee
-Rocked out hard to anything that was related to music while I dressed to go riding
-Went on a 4hr mt bike ride and after 2 hrs I met up with Kurt, Toby, Jon, and Kyle and brought them down Dilemma and it was cool to see Jon ride because it was the first time he went mt biking ever and just to know thats where I came from at one time, kind of brought me back to my younger days.
-This ride was unreal I found the wickedest route down the mt tyeing like 4 wicked trails together and I was on fire today and was ripping apart the single track, I tore it a new one!
-Then I got home and drank Chocolate milk and watched the Pig man Seinfeld.
-Had a wicked tuna omelet sandwich with pitas and avocado and tomato.
-Watched Oprah from 4-5
-Put a roast in the oven
-Went paddling at the lake in the dark, its so cool paddling in the dark, its seams like you are going a million miles an hour.
-Now I am trying to make myself like everything related to food and beverage in this world, last month I got on the coffee train and the only thing left is Beer, now lets be honest Beer is gross, I am going to try to acquire a taste for it so once a week is beer night, the rules are 1beer with a mid week canucks hockey game and every week we are going to do a different Beer. So got home from paddle and drank 1 beer, a Kokanee. Next week its Canadian.
-watched the Canucks get worked
- took the roast out and ate a proper roast dinner with Kurt and Nikki in the first intermission
-Now I am going to have some lemon Zinger tea and hit the sack.
I am so pumped on the teapot challenge on Saturday at 1pm at main beach, staging will be at 1230. I am going to tear Toby a new one if the water is smooth if its choppy that will not be good for Ricky if its real choppy it will take me like 3hrs to paddle across the lake. Oh man I hope it's glass like water.

Its a mad house

So Monday at 430pm the river was at a all time high. The highest its ever been in recorded history and I got to give mad props to Derek and Jon who got in there boats at peak flow time and went from Vedder bridge to peach road. Mind you it was short, but D and J should be put in the book of Chilliwack records. Also the teapot challenge is taking place on November 11th at 1pm at main beach. There will be a pre ride of the mt bike leg on Thursday the 9th at noon at main beach parking lot. See you all there.

good night jug dish

The last week has been very full. Mid week I had to wake up at 6 to do this 2min talk in front of all these honch business guys about my training and racing. Then Saturday I had to wake at like 430 to go to the Haney to Harrison run. It turned out I didn't even end up running I just drove/sat in the car and stayed dry while I watch a bunch of people run in the pissing rain. I drank way to much coffee on a empty stomach then I got a wicked head ache and felt like crap for like 2hrs. One upside from the day was this crazy sweet rainbow, the best one I have ever seen. Then yesterday I had a kayak class at the Cheam center pool and I got to go off the high dive in a kayak. It was unreal. So Kurt and I are just sitting around drinking coffee and talking about the days when you could make money doing sports. So I was talking about the test of metal and making like 1500 two years in a row. The one year I beat Neal Kindree, you remember Neal? So Kurt did this race with 10grand for first place and it was a multi sport event with rock climbers and Kurt was hanging with these honch rock climbers and he was like “ho man you guys are sweet!” that is the quote of the week. Today I drove up the chilliwack river with Connor and there was mad flood going on the bridge is going to be taken out soon and tons of the houses had the river going through them. Me and Kurt did a push up competition this morning and I got up to 10. Thats a pb for me. I also did some handyman work around the house and put in a new mail lock because I lost the key, and then I put in a new faucet with a detachable handle and 2 spray modes, yeah, “ho man this thing is sweet.”

Feels like a Arby's night.

So ever since I have been on the bean I have just been getting so much done. This week I did all my normal training and ripped it up. I also hung up this new painting of wine, I fixed a running toilet, made some wicked good feed bags with turkey. Today I got the furnace going. Thats right no furnace till oct 29. we were going to hold off until Kurt gets back some time next week but I just about froze to death so I caved and now I am living the good life. The warm good life. I was at the point of wearing my Russian hat and down jacket inside every morning. "this son of a bitch is ice cold" The best turkey sandwich is very simple to make all you need is two pitas, cranberry sauce, and turkey and then you just go to town. So I got a new project and that is to get Derek drinking coffee. Right now he is on a little bit of coffee with a lot of choc milk program. Next week we are going to up the dose and by Festivus the D man will be hooked and flying. On Thursday James came by with his French press and we had my new French press and we went crazy. I ended up drinking 6cups and was on fire, then I went on this killer ride and tore it a new one. I have been taking pizza with me on rides and its unreal, I put it in a little sandwich bag and then its right next to my body and when its pizza time the pizza is warm and once the cheese was all string like you know? So good to have real food on the bike, forget about it. Well I got to go have a shower, I think coffee gives you BBO. For a better understanding of things you should all check out this link. http://www.stanthecaddy.com/seinfeld-glossary/

Who wants to go for coffee?

So I have been just going nut bar this week. Here is why. In 1999 at world championships in Sweden I made a bet with Andrew Shandro, he bet I would be drinking coffee before I turned 25. I bet I would not be drinking coffee before 25. Well I turned 25 a couple weeks ago and I would say I won that bet. 7 years but it was worth it. But now I am making up for lost ground. Well I don't have any coffee making products so I did some sweet Macgyver action and check out the photos. Kurt calls it cowboy coffee, “I am a cowboy!” I rode today and tore everyone a new one, and at hockey yesterday oh man just forget about it. The coffee is making a real difference, if I would have been drinking coffee since 99 I would be world champion, for all the kids out there start drinking coffee today! I got a new room mate this week, Nikki, and now its full a house. In regards to Nikki moving in the quote of the day goes to Rhys, “so I hear you have a new room mate? Wow your place just went from a sweet bachelor pad to uh oh” Today I just cooked a turkey and it was full on wicked good. I will be working on Kiboshing the leftover turkey all next week and making some proper turkey sandwiches. If you got any ideas on turkey left overs please leave a comment. Mmmm turkey. I need some of the turkey to help make me sleepy cause the coffee is making me go mental. So if anyone wants to go for coffee I am down. Count me down. Let me know “I don't know I've had many cafe latte's” Cosmo Kramer. Go Canuck's go, but whats up with all the OT?

mmmmm
Kurt feeling the love.
but I dont wanna be a cowboy.

Costanza

So I have been back on the bike this week. The rides have been going very good no major bonking sessions or anything like that. Today I did this wicked ride up Elk and down Thurston and it was so nice riding through alpine meadows with falling leaves all over the valley. So with all this training comes a lot of resting and watching TV. I have watched a lot of Seinfeld. Love the Sein. I was just wondering what do people think is the best Seinfeld Quote is? Here are a bunch that I think are for sure in the top ten. Vote for your favorite or come up with a new one. Just leave a comment on your favorite quote. Thanks. And Go Canuck's go!
“I'm George I'm unemployed and I live with my parents”
“is anyone here a marine biologist?”
“No soup for you!”
“my wallets gone”
“look you idiot, first of all”
“good night jug dish”
“who!who doesn't want to wear the ribbon?!”
“boy, you really went bald there”
“you could put that fancy mustard on a shoe and it would taste pretty good to me”
“Jerry, this is Frank Costanza, George is dead call me back”
“driving round in Jon Voights car”
“as you can clearly see this is not my face”
“pulp can move baby”
“this son of a bitch is ice cold”
“Mr Kramer, do you like Cadillac?
“no bagel no bagel no bagel no bagel”
“its a festivis miracle”
“I was in the pool!”
“Kenny”
“top of the muffin to you”
“the summer of George”
“stick a fork in me I'm done”
“serenity now”
oh man there is so many. I could go on forever. But the hockey game is going to start.

What am I thinking? I must have bricks in my head

I am Costanza lord of the idiots! And suddenly we have a new contender. Thats right the new contenders are Kurt and I. So yesterday we set out to do a day hike up to Williamson lake in the back woods of Chilliwack. So we woke up and downed some cereal, I phoned my folks to let them know where we are going and when we would be back then we drove to the hike, we were on the trail at 830. We hiked for like 3hrs then we got to the lake, it was very nice but us being as dumb as we are we wanted to go to the top of this Welch peak that was way up there. The higher we got the harder the trail got. We got to the point where we took the rope we brought and Kurt tied one end around his waist and I did the same with the other end. So we were on a ridge with like 300m drop offs on both sides, the hiked turned into full on rock climbing. Quote of the day has to go to Kurt, “Ok if I slip and fall, just jump off the opposite side” oh yeah that sounds great I will just jump off this massive cliff. Oh Man we are crazy. Anyhow after doing this rock climbing for like 2hrs we had to stop because it just got way to hard, but we got a killer view and ate our 16$ worth of dried mango's. But man they were sure good at the top. After chilling at the top Kurt and I started going down and it took so long, way longer then we thought it would. On the way down I fell hard and riped the skin off my hand. Then we slid down this snow field, right to the lake and it was pitch black. We filled up with some beaver fever lake water, put our head lamps on then went down in the marked trail in the dark. We were doing great! Clear sky, stars, massive almost full moon, it was unreal. But I was kind of worried about my folks I couldn't phone them because no service in the back country, and it was like 9pm. And I knew they were freaking. At this time Kurt was hurting his walking style looked like someone who had to learn how to walk all over again. All we could do is keep going we got like 20min from the car and there was this truck that pulled up and sure enough is was the old man and my uncle Rick, they brought a quad and came to look for us. Well they found us. The total hike was 13.5hrs then we got in the car and hit the Wendy's and made the classic bonking joke of sending the Frosty's through an IV machine and straight in to our vains. Slept like a rock last night and today its full CMT on the couch and Canucks game at 4, I am so wrecked.
oh we got so close to the peak! but not being dead on some rock is kind of good
$16 worth of dry Mango
this should be a lot of fun over the next couple days welch peak from the bottom
Kurt hanging off the rock with williams peak and chilliwack lake in the background
sun set at like 2000m and we still got like 3hrs hike left

Theres no jobs in this town, unless you want to work 40hrs a week!

Oh mama, what a weekend. So on Friday Rhys phones me up and tells me he cant get the car to go to hockey. Well I do have a scooter and we had to get to the rink so I picked him up and we rolled to hockey both of us on the scooter with both bags and both sticks, now for all the kids out there this is how you roll all white and nerdy. Just call me Loyd Christmas. When I got to hockey I was on a 2 on 1 with some guy and passed it across and the D man blocked my pass with his face and his eye socket and nose got all cut up and there was blood all over the ice and he was off to the hospital to get some stitches. Saturday morning I met the Abbotsford possi at the corner of Vedder and Keith Wilson to do the Mt Macfarlane. We all hiked up like like 5or6km then set up camp at lower pierce lake but we couldn't even see the lake cause so much fog rolled in and couldn't see 10m in front of your face. Then we set off for the last 5or6km to the top. Me and Ryan and Trev sprinted up front and somehow got lost for like 45min and we got board so we rolled some boulders down this cliff. Then Nate and the girls showed up and we went right to the top, the peak was 2100m. Then after not seeing much we went back down to camp site and drank special ice tea and sang lump (by the presidents of the USA you know?) by a raging fire. Next morning woke up and went back up to the top and could see tons and it was unreal. Chilliwack is just insane. One of the best parts of day 2 was jumping in the lake at 1700m in the full buck, this is a family site so no photos will be posted. On the way down Chris and his legs were so messed up and he couldn't walk, if the hike was 10 more minutes we would have to drag him out. Then we drove straight to the Jolly Miller and strapped on a proper feed bag. There is more photos but blogger or my computer is showing me no love right now. I will try and get more photos up later.
